This is the first shot I've ever taken of this object. I was looking for something both new and visible for the entire evening. A few weeks ago I made a semi-major N00B mistake and left my step ladder too close to my pier with my NYX mount and Vixen OTA. When it did a meridian flip the back end of the OTA hit the top stair and essentially forced the mount to "slip" the belt across some of the internal belt gears. I was certain I stripped things out but it turns out it looks to be fine. Kudo's to Pegasus Astro for using components that seem to be somewhat idiot proof. All is well as this image as guiding for this was around 0.5" - 0.7" RMS pre and post meridian flip. In fact, since I use the Phd2 Guiding Assistant and then used those parameters for guiding, my NYX-101 has been working wonderful. This shot also is the first with my ASI294MC camera. I had previously been using my ASI071MC camera with my Vixen ED103S OTA. That has always been an issue from the perspective that the size of the 071 imager was much larger than the flat porting of the image spot for my Vixen. I always had to crop my images about 20% - 30% around the boundary because the stars were so bad. I looked into getting a flattener for my Vixen but the overall cost, once all of the custom adapters were purchased far exceeded the cost of just getting ASI294MC. I have a ASI294MM which I use with my RedCat51 and can now use with my Vixen too. The ASI294MC is a nice camera as I can see there are lots of times where there simply are not enough clear nights to capture a full suite of LRGB or SHO filter sets but a single evening with a narrow dual band filter and a OSC camera would work fine. The 294MC does have amp glow but a good set of darks always fixes that fine so it really is not an issue.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
